PATRICK DWYRE
The Wheelhouse Restaurant in Waupaca County, WI (2025)
Mixed media on canvas, 30 x 24 in.

A recent transplant from SoCal, Patrick Dwyre joined Make Studio in Baltimore in 2024 and quickly showed how expertly he had honed his art practice during his prior tenure with Tierra del Sol in Sunland, CA. Patrick utilizes a distinct manner of thickly layering primarily pastels and woodless colored pencils, sometimes using strategic scraping to define expressive forms that are often depictions of architecture and places. He enjoys patiently “playing the long game” in his work, with extensive layer-upon-layer application.
Patrick’s recent exhibitions include “Textured Narratives” at the Chesapeake Art Center (Brooklyn Park, MD, 2025), “All In” at Fresh Eye Gallery (Minneapolis, MN, 2025), the 2025 SCOUT Art Fair at ArtScape in downtown Baltimore, “Reflections” at Able ARTS Works (Long Beach, CA) and inclusion in the permanent collection of Gordon-Feinblatt (Baltimore, MD). He exhibited extensively at the First Street Gallery in Claremont, CA while at Tierra del Sol (2009-2023), including, “Space is the Place," a group show curated by Alison Saar in September 2023.
